  • Discovered by Ray and Cindy Jackson of Jackson Nursery (Belvidere, TN) in 2006.
  • Unknown parentage.
  • Chosen for its stunning coloration and high resistance to drought, heat, and sun scorch.

  • Adaptable to many soil types but prefers moist, well-drained soil rich in organic matter

Scientific Facts

  • Can produce large numbers of multi-seeded pods
  • Native Americans are redbud flowers, young pods, and seeds raw or cooked
  • Flowers can be pickled, have a slightly sour taste, high in Vitamin C
  • A 2006 study shows flowers and seeds are high in antioxidants and linolenic/alpha-linolenic acids
