Probably a hybrid between the Northern and Southern (nigrum) Sugar Maples, exhibiting both good heat and drought tolerance
Considered to be the standard for comparison in Sugar Maples and the most widely planted selection
Perhaps the hardiest Sugar Maple and is the best choice for northern areas

Tea made from inner bark of Sugar Maple is a blood tonic, diuretic, and expectorant and has been used in the treatment of coughs and diarrhea
A compound infusion of the bark has been used as drops for treating blindness
Sap has been used for treating sore eyes
Maple syrup used in cough syrups and is also said to be a liver tonic and kidney cleanser
